dr. Senior Consultant Gabriele Fragasso

Dr. Fragasso Gabriele is the Head of the Heart Failure Clinic, the Cardiology Unit, at the San Raffaele Research Hospital, Milan. He has wide experience in the field of non-invasive cardiology. Within the Cardiology Unit, he has been in charge of elective and sub-intensive hospital beds, ergometric and nuclear cardiology labs, cardiological PET project; he performs transthoracic and trans-oesophageal 2D-echocardiograms. Additionally, he has initiated the echo-stress lab at the San Raffaele Research Hospital. He has gained wide experience in right and left heart catheterization, temporary pacing, pericardiocentesis. His research interests have mainly been based on the functional and metabolic correlates of coronary disease and heart failure. His special interest has been devoted to the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of myocardial dysfunction and the consequent therapeutic approach to it. In the recent years most investigations were devoted to the evaluation of metabolic, cellular and functional adaptation of heart failure of different etiology.
