Dr. Senior Consultant Alfieri Ottavio

Doctor Ottavio Alfieri is a Professor and Chairman of Cardiac Surgery at the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele. His main field of interest is surgery for valvular heart diseases (mitral valve repair). During his career, has developed a method of mitral valve repair (the edge to edge technique) known as "Alfieri stitch" which is the basis for the most used type of percutaneous correction of mitral regurgitation today.  Professor Alfieri has performed more than 10,000 major cardiac procedures.
