Biography

Doctor Gordana Laškarin was born in 1966, Rijeka, Croatia. In 1991 she graduated from Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka. From 1991 to 1992 she did her internship at Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka, (passed the state exam on November 11, 1992). From 1992 to 1994 she was attending postgraduate scientific study in ‘General Clinical Pathophysiology’ at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka. In December 1998 she defended master’s thesis: ‘Regulation of expression of cytolytic protein perforin in human decidual lymphocytes'. In 2002 she obtained the title of Doctor of Science in the field of medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka by defending the doctoral thesis: 'Regulation of cytolytic activity at the junction of maternal and foetal tissues by hormonal cytokine network'. From 2011 to 2015 she was a resident in internal medicine at the University Hospital Centre Rijeka, and in 2015 passed specialist exam in internal medicine before the commission of the Ministry of Health-RH). In 2013, by the decision of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Croatia, she obtained the status of specialist in laboratory immunology. From 2017 until 2019 she was doing her subspecialisation internship - rheumatology at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb and passed the rheumatology specialist exam before the commission of the Ministry of Health-RH. Since 2017 she is full professor in the field of biomedicine and health, scientific field of basic medical science, scientific branch of human physiology and immunology, at the Department of Physiology, Immunology and Pathophysiology, Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka. She is the author of numerous scientific papers and articles, a member of numerous scientific associations as well as the principal investigator and participant in many scientific projects.
