The new Quirónsalud Proton Therapy Center is a modern center, equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology to offer a treatment of the highest quality and precision, and where everything is designed in detail to offer each patient the maximum level of comfort and convenience during their treatment. It will also be a space for innovation and research that will contribute with its projects to improving the results of cancer treatments and the quality of life of patients. Quirónsalud has brought together prestigious specialists with extensive experience in international proton therapy centers at its center to form a multidisciplinary team of experts and offers the highest standards of quality and safety in all its processes and treatments. What's so special about protons? Proton therapy uses high-energy accelerated proton beams, which are directed with pinpoint precision against the tumor, where they deposit most of their energy. This concentrated delivery of energy to the tumor minimizes the dose to surrounding tissues and reduces the risk of secondary tumor development. Somewhat critical in young and pediatric patients. How do protons act on the tumor? The modulated intensity of the proton beam conforms to the shape of the tumor by sculpting it with radiation, destroying it and rendering cancer cells unable to reproduce. For what type of tumors is it indicated? It is estimated that approximately 2-3% of patients diagnosed with cancer are indisputable candidates to receive proton therapy. In Spain, more than 1,000 new cases must be treated with proton therapy.*Recommendations of the Spanish Society of Radiation Oncology (SEOR)
