General SurgeryDr. Marcello Avallone is a specialist general surgeon and bariatric surgeon in Rome, a branch of medicine that deals with the treatment of abdominal pathologies of surgical interest and beyond. He has dedicated much of his training to advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, specializing in the surgery of obesity and hernia pathology. He currently works at the UOC of General Surgery and Center of Excellence of Bariatric Surgery of the I.C.O.T. Hospital in Latina as well as at private clinics in Rome. After graduating in Medicine and Surgery, obtained at the First University of Rome "Sapienza", he specialized in General Surgery with a grade of 70/70 laude at the University of the same name, attending the Center for Minimally Invasive Oncological Surgery in Civitavecchia and the Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery in Latina, discussing an experimental thesis entitled: "Long-term follow-up of Resleeve Gastrectomy: Is it still a valid option as revision surgery?". He is registered in the Professional Register of Surgeons of Rome under number 59867. Member of the Italian Society of Endoscopic Surgery (SICE) and President of the Lazio Region in the bariatric surgery area of the Italian Society of Young Surgeons (SPIGC). During his specialist training, he has gained professional experience in the field of minimally invasive surgery of the abdominal wall (hernias and laparoceles), bariatric surgery (treatment of obesity) and endocrine-metabolic surgery, benign and malignant surgery of the digestive system, as well as in the treatment of varicose veins of the lower limbs. During this period he participated in numerous experimental practical trainings on new cutting-edge methods in the field of abdominal surgery and beyond: Advanced Laparoscopy Training 4K/Intelligence Tissue Monitoring, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery on living animal "Hiatal hernia repair: mesh vs plateled rich plasma (prp), Master I° ISHAWS in hernia and abdominal wall surgery, Thyroid microsurgery Prof. Ortensi "Fabia Mater", SIUMB National Diploma in Clinical Ultrasound. He has been the author of numerous scientific publications and co-supervisor of university theses, not neglecting research: he is currently involved in a clinical trial of international interest on the modification of the gut microbiota after Mini Gastric Bypass and Roux ne Y Gastric Bypass. He has participated in numerous national and international congresses as a speaker, in training and refresher courses, and is constantly updated on new surgical techniques and approaches in the field of abdominal surgery.
